Poon Hill Trekking - 10 Days

Poon Hill trek is also popularly known for its sunrise view from the peak of a hill and breathing Annapurna mountain range is relatively an easy kind of trek who is visiting Nepal for a short period of time. During the trek, you’ll pass through the quaint jungles, rivers, streams observing villages residing beneath the hills rich in culture, local customs and tradition. 

Why should you trek to Ghorepani Poon Hill?

You will pass through local Gurung and Magar communities who are so nice and humble with their guests. Though not equipped with modern education but they surely know how to welcome their guests in own way. The views from Poon Hill are one of the best experiences you have in life. You can have a panoramic view of Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, Machhapuchhare, Annapurna II and Lamjung himalayan ranges. And in the morning the beam of sunrise falling in these snow capped mountain is so amazing that you will never forget the place like this one. The same rays can melt your heart away.

The best time to trek Poon Hill is during September – November and then March May. Since it is at the height of 3210m it you can trek in December – January as well keeping in mind about the temperature as it snows overs there during this time.

Day 1
Arrival at airport

Airport welcome and pick up by our office representative. You’ll be transferred to hotel where you can have some refreshments. Our tour guide will give an orientation about the trek. In the evening you can stroll around the markets for any trek things you want.

Day 2
Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara

Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara which is about 6 hours ride. In alternate you can have a flight to Pokhara. In the afternoon after fresh up in a hotel, you can go for a short walk around the lake side, enjoy some street foods.

Day 3
Drive up to Nayapul and Trek to Tikhedhunga(1540m) 4-5 hrs walk

This morning we will ride 45 minutes up to Nayapul from where our trek commences. Walking up the trail to Birethanti passing by the banks of Bhurungdi river. Overnight stay at lodge in Tikhedhunga.

Day 4
Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani (2870m) 6 hrs walk

After having breakfast you will trek to Ghorepani passing by one small Magar village where we reach within 1 and a half hours. On the way we stop at Nangethanti (2460m) to have our lunch. And then again descends up to Ghorepani which is the gateway to Muktinath Jomsom, Annapurna Circuit and Annapurna base camp trek. There are lots of lodges in this village and also a magnificent view of mountain range.

Day 5
Trek to Tadapani (2590m) 5 - 6 hrs walk

We wake up early in the morning walk up to Poon Hill famed point for sunrise view which takes about 45 minutes. The view of majestic himalayas Manaslu, Dhaulagiri and Annapurna is amazing. It takes your breath away. Return to camp for breakfast and trek back to Deurali passing by rhododendron forest. After having lunch at Banthanti we walk up to Tadapani which will be our overnight stay.

Day 6
Tadapani to Ghandruk (1565m) 5 hrs walk

Passing by the jungles, cultivated lands, Khumnu river suspension bridge we reach Ghandruk. A beautiful scenic villages which offer breathtaking views of Annapurna South, Gangapurna, Annapurna III, Machhapuchhre and Hiunchuli mountain range. We will stay in a teahouse overnight.

Day 7
Ghandruk to Dhampus (1650m) 5 hrs walk

Descend to Dhampus via Pothana.

Day 8
Dhampus to Phedi then Pokhara - 1 hr walk

Having breakfast at Dhampus and walk up to Phedi which is 1 hr hike. From Phedi we’ll catch a bus and ride to Pokhara lakeside where you’ll freshen up and have lunch. The time is yours whatever you like to do in Pokhara.

Day 9
Pokhara to Kathmandu

Drive back to Kathmandu. You can go shopping in the evening.

Day 10
Fly back to you home

The final day. The day of departure. Taking back all the memories and remembrance of such a naturally beautiful country.
